Taya McCallum - P.E. Teacher

Hello families! My name is Ms. McCallum, and I am so excited to be the K–6 P.E. teacher at Edison Elementary!

I grew up in Chehalis, Washington, so I am especially excited to be teaching and working with students in the community I call home. This is my first year teaching, and I am incredibly excited to begin this journey with our students.

I attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, where I played college basketball and earned my undergraduate degree in education. I later completed my master’s degree in teaching at Saint Martin’s University.

I have always been passionate about sports, the outdoors, coaching, and working with kids. Growing up I played soccer, basketball, fast pitch, and was a thrower in track and field. Basketball is my favorite sport, but I love being active and learning about all kinds of sports and activities.

My favorite part of teaching P.E. is connecting with students through movement. I want every student to feel successful, included, and excited to be active. My goal is to help students discover activities they enjoy and develop a lifelong love for moving their bodies, trying new things, and being active.

I am looking forward to a fun year full of movement, learning, teamwork, and lots of Bulldog spirit! 🐾🏀
